I don't know about you, but it seems that we have blinked and January is already almost over! In our few short days of January we have had 5 snow days and started our second semester for this school year. It's hard to believe that we only have one week left and it will be February. ❤ 🏴☠️

Once a Pirate, Always a Pirate!!

Before winter break, Ms. Lehman's class wrapped up their hair care unit in an exciting way—by visiting HCTC! 🏫✂️ Talented cosmetology students treated them to hair washes, styles, and even cuts. 💇♂️💇♀️
Thanks to all involved for making this memorable day possible! 👏❤ 🏴☠️

Families impacted should have received a phone call on Sunday January 12. If you live on a gravel road, and did not receive a phone call from the transportation department, please call the transportation center, or your student's school and verify we have the correct contact information for you on file.
Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Every fall, Ms. Garner’s classes at HHS take part in a heartwarming tradition—writing letters to teachers who have made a lasting impact on their lives. 📝❤️
This reflection activity not only helps students recognize the difference educators make in their lives, but it also reminds teachers of the incredible legacy they leave behind—even with students they may not have seen for years!
A big shoutout to Ms. Garner for inspiring her students, and how special that so many chose HER for their letters this year! ❤ 🏴☠️

School will not be in session today, Friday, January 10, 2025 due to hazardous road conditions this morning.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during weather events. Canceling school is never an easy call to make, but as always, the safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority.
We want to also thank our local state, city, and county road crews and the HPS custodial and maintenance teams for their hard work this week and through all challenging winter weather events.
We hope to see some better temperatures and road conditions next week!

🎉 Life Skills in Action! 🌟
Ms. Knorr's students work with Pre-ETS (Pre-Employment Transition Services) twice a month to learn essential skills like teamwork, communication, independent living, and basic life skills.
Before winter break, they had a blast creating "Snowman Poop" (don't worry, it's a sweet treat!) and sharing it with adults around HHS A fun way to practice kindness and communication! 🧡

❄️ Important Update: NO SCHOOL Wednesday January 8, 2025 ❄️
After earlier planning for a hard surface only day, we’ve carefully reevaluated the weather and road conditions. Keeping the safety of our students, staff, and families as our top priority, all HPS schools will be closed 1/8/2025 for a traditional snow day.
Please stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy the day! 🖤❤🏴☠️

🔬 Exploring Mitosis Under the Microscope! 🌱
HHS Biology students recently took a closer look at onion root tip cells under the microscope to investigate the process of mitosis. 📸
They observed the various phases, including interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase, sketching their findings and analyzing which stage had the highest percentage of cells. Students captured images of their group slides, showcasing their scientific observations in action! 🧪🖌️

🚓 A big thank you to our Missouri State Troopers for stopping by the high school today! 🖤❤🏴☠️
You may notice their patrol cars on our campuses periodically—that’s because they partner with us to visit and get to know our schools. Safety is always a top priority, and we’re grateful for their commitment to our students, staff, and community.
