Below is a comprehensive list of most of the scholarships that the Counseling Center at Hannibal High School administers. 

  • Please understand that programs and committees may change their requirements or offerings year by year.

  • It is probable that there will be additional scholarship offerings not listed in this list.  It is important for students to check the Google Classroom, Social Media announcements, and to check the listings on the Pirate Pride Bulletin Board in the counseling office on a regular basis.

  • The scholarships in this section are listed alphabetically.  When the scholarship becomes active it will be announced  and the due date will be given at that time.  It is important that the Counseling Department receive the applications by the due dates in order to process the paperwork required and to mail the applications in a timely manner.  

Students should use this list to determine scholarships for which they would qualify.  This list contains scholarships that will be available at various times throughout the school year.  

Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship

Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship: Applicants must be a descendant of a member of the American Legion, and plan to attend full time at a college or university. Financial need is considered

Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship

Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship: Applicants must have attended Boys or Girls State or the Missouri Cadet Patrol Academy, must be a descendent of a veteran of the Armed Forces having served 90 days on active duty and having an honorable discharge, and plan to attend full time at a college or university. Financial need is considered.

Joseph J. Frank Scholarship

Joseph J. Frank Scholarship: Applicants must have attended Boys or Girls State, must be a descendant of a veteran of the Armed Forces having served 90 days on active duty and having an honorable discharge, and plan to attend full time at a college or university. Financial need is considered.

M.D. "Jack" Murphy Memorial Scholarship

M.D. “Jack” Murphy Memorial Scholarship: Applicants must plan a career as a Registered Nurse, must be in the top 40% of the graduating class, and plan to attend a college or university full time. Applicants also must be a descendent of a veteran of the Armed Forces having served 90 days on active duty and having an honorable discharge. Financial need is considered.

Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship

Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship: Applicants must be a descendant of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty and having an honorable discharge, must plan to major in education and attend full time at a college or university. Financial need is considered.

Shayne Voyles Memorial Scholarship

Shayne Voyles Memorial Scholarship: One applicant will be chosen from HHS by the scholarship committee. Criteria: financial need, participation in athletics, school activities/clubs, volunteer work, leadership qualities, high moral standard and extreme patriotism. Applicants must plan to attend a college or university full time.

Etta Mae Anderson Scholarship

Applicants must be a resident of Ralls County, demonstrate some financial need, have a good moral character, and strong academic record. Preference will be given to students pursuing a career in the education field.

BASF Scientific Achievement Scholarship

Applicants must be high school seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA, plan to attend an accredited 4 year college or university in the fall, and demonstrate exceptional academic standing and plan to major in a science field. The scholarship is renewable for 4 years.

Jeana Sue Herl Babyak Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 4.0, plan to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college or university, and major in the healthcare field.

Gregory Baldwin Memorial Scholarship

Applicants can be any student graduating from HHS who plans to continue his or her education in a 2 or 4 year college/university or trade school. Financial need will be the basis for this scholarship.

George and Hazel Barber Scholarship

Applicants must be a resident of Marion County, have an academic record to indicate probable success in college, and show reasonable financial need.

Madlyn Bertram Class of 1944 Scholarship

Applicants must plan on majoring in a math related field, show financial need and have participated in extracurricular activities.

Beta Sigma Phi Preceptor Zeta Pi Chapter Distinguished Female Award

Applicants must be senior females. Applications will be judged on grammar and overall presentation.

BR Chapter PEO

Applicants must be female seniors graduating from HHS and have a minimum 3.5 GPA. Priority will be given to the daughter or granddaughter of an active BR Chapter PEO member.

Lori A. Brownell-Wagner Memorial Go Big Red Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and write an essay describing how school spirit is carried out in your life.

Business Women of Missouri Foundation State Scholarship

Applicants must plan to enroll into an accredited program or course of study and demonstrate need for financial assistance.

Steve Clark Memorial Scholarship

Applicants may plan to attend college or vocational school. Financial need is considered for this scholarship.

Class of 1934 Scholarship

Applicants must rank in the upper 50% of the senior class. Applicants will be judged on character, honesty, responsibility, citizenship, and financial need. Applicants may plan to attend college or technical school.

Class of 1955 Scholarship

Applicants must have a 2.0 or higher GPA. Financial need will be one of the main factors in selection.

Class of 1988 Football Scholarship

Applicants must be in the top 40% of class, have participated in football as a senior, and have played as an interior lineman.

Bernard and Anna Clayton Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors and residents of the A.D. Stowell school attendance area, have good moral character, have an academic record sufficient to indicate an aptitude for vocational or technical school or probable success in a college program, and show reasonable financial need. There are 2 scholarships. One scholarship is paid over 4 years to a student attending a 4 year college or university. One scholarship is paid over 2 years to a student attending a 2 year college or technical school. This is a tremendous opportunity – these scholarships are a significant amount.

ELKS Lodge Most Valuable Student Scholarship

Applicants must be high school seniors and will be judged on academics, activities, financial need, and employment/service. Scholarships are given at local, state, and national levels.

Junior Ellis Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors from Hannibal High School who participated in sports while in high school. This includes cheerleading. Applicants must plan to continue their education at a 2-year or 4-year college or technical school.

Brent William Esicar Memorial Golf Scholarship

Applicants must have been a member of the HHS golf team for at least one season, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and have an interest in the sciences. Preference will be given to applicants who have an interest in the medical or dental field.

Eugene Field Elementary School Scholarship of Excellence

Applicants must have graduated from Eugene Field Elementary and have attended that school for 4 or more years, including the last 2 years prior to graduation. Applicants must be graduating seniors from Hannibal High School, must be of high moral character, have an academic record of a “B” average and show reasonable financial need.

Kenneth Gregg Agricultural Scholarship

Applicants must be residents of Ralls County and plan to pursue a career in an agriculture field. Financial need, academics, and extracurricular activities are also considered.

Dr. Wyeth & Mary Ann Hamlin Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must plan to major in a health related career and be in the top 20% of the class. Financial need is NOT considered.

Hannibal Arts Council Past Presidents’ Scholarship

Applicants must have had participation in the arts and have educational and career goals related to the arts.

Hannibal Booster Club Scholarship

Applicants must be actively involved in activities/athletics during their senior year, must have a minimum GPA of 3.5, must have been involved in at least one sport/activity in each of their four high school years, must have a minimum attendance rate of 95%, must not have been suspended from any sport/activity, and must adhere to the no alcohol and drug policy as set forth by the MSHSAA. Applicants will be judged on involvement in civic, community/extracurricular activities, GPA, awards and honors, total number of team/activity involvement, and a short essay.

Hannibal Business Women of Missouri Scholarship

Applicants must be female and have a good academic record.

Hannibal Carbide Tool Community Scholarship

Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, plan to attend a 4 or 5 year program in engineering, science, or business at a college or university. Students are judged on community involvement, work experience, and extracurricular activities.

Hannibal Early Bird Kiwanis Scholarships

Applicants are judged on financial need and academic ability. There are multiple scholarships available.

Hannibal Education Association

Applicants must plan to major in education and will be judged on academics and/or financial need.

Hannibal Evening Kiwanis Scholarships

Applicants will be judged on financial need, academic ability, and activities. Six scholarships will be given.

HHS Student Council/American Red Cross Blood Drive Scholarship

Applicants must be May graduates and active Student Council members.

Hannibal Jaycees Frank C. Berry Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must show some financial need and academic promise.

Hannibal Lions Club Scholarship

Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA, extracurricular activities, and a goal statement. Financial need is considered.

Hannibal Community Teachers Association Scholarship

Applicants must be children of Hannibal CTA members and have 2.5 or higher GPA, and a minimum score of 20 on the ACT. Financial need is NOT considered.

Hannibal Realty Scholarship

One will be awarded to a student planning to attend a college/university and major in Business or Education, and one will be awarded to a student planning to attend a trade school. Applicants must be graduating seniors at Hannibal High School in the year of the award.

Hannibal Rotary Club Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors and residents of Marion, Ralls, or Monroe County. Applicants must have a minimum 2.75 GPA and will be judged on many things including community service and an essay.

Bobby L. Heiser, Jr. Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors that attended or graduated from Holy Family School.

Dr. Darrell Holley, Missouri United School Insurance Council Scholarship

Applicants are judged on academics, school activities, leadership, and community activities. Financial need is NOT considered.

JH Chapter PEO Scholarship

Applicants must be female seniors, and must have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Preference will be given to children of members. Financial need is not considered.

Henry A. Jubel Memorial Spartan Metals Scholarship

Any high school senior who will be attending a college offering a 4 year degree may apply. Applicants must plan to major in a business related field, such as business, engineering, accounting, computer science, etc. Other factors will include extracurricular activities, ACT scores and financial need. This is a renewable scholarship.

Kiwanis Earl Collins Foundation Scholarship

Applicants must have at least a 23 on the ACT. Academics, service to community, honors and financial need are also considered.

Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Holy Family School Scholarship

Applicants will be judged by the Ladies Auxiliary members of Holy Family School not solely on the basis of, but considering: Catholic citizenship/involvement, community service, and financial need.

KV Chapter PEO Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating females, and have an academic record equivalent of a “B” average. Priority will be given to children of active PEO members of any chapter. Financial need is not considered.

LZ Chapter PEO Scholarship

Applicants must be female seniors, must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to a child of an active PEO member in Hannibal.

Eula Mainland King’s Daughters Scholarship

Applicants must be female seniors graduating from HHS, have a B average academic record, and plan to enter a field of study in the health sciences.

Marion/Ralls Retired School Personnel Scholarship

Applicants must plan to major in the education field. Applicants are judged on academics, financial need and school/community involvement.

Mark Twain Elementary School Scholarship

Applicants must be seniors graduating from Hannibal High School, must have graduated from Mark Twain Elementary, have an academic record of "B" or better and show reasonable financial need.

Melissa (Smith) McCutcheon Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors from HHS. Extracurricular involvement is important. An essay is required.

Melissa Ann (Smith) McCutcheon Memorial “Friendship” Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors from HHS. Applicants must write an essay about the importance of family and friendship.

P. Michael McKay and Margaret R. McKay Charitable Trust Scholarship

Applicants must be of good moral character, show reasonable financial need, and have an academic record to show probable chance of success in college. Applicants must plan to major in education or pursue a degree in ministry, planning to go on to seminary.

Missouri Association Mutual Insurance Companies Scholarship

Applicants must plan to attend college in Missouri. Applicants are judged on academics, financial need, activities, work, and honors and awards.

Missouri Sheriffs Association Scholarship

Applicants must plan to major in criminal justice and attend college in Missouri. Must have at least a 2.0 GPA, show some financial need, and be actively involved in extracurricular activities.

Missouri School Boards Assn. John T. Belcher Memorial Scholarship

Applicants will be judged on academics and activities. Financial need is NOT considered. One applicant will be chosen to represent HHS for this scholarship opportunity. The application requires an essay on a specific topic and letters of recommendation.

W.T. Myers Family Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors that will attend Hannibal LaGrange University, Central Methodist University, or one of the University of Missouri campuses (Columbia, Rolla, St. Louis, Kansas City). Applicants are judged on character, academics, and financial need and must rank in the top 20% of class.

Nagy Scholarship

Applicants must plan to major in an engineering field. Must also rank in top 15% of class, have a 25 or higher ACT, and be taking or have taken calculus. Financial need is NOT considered.

National Wild Turkey Federation Scholarship

Applicants must be dedicated to conservation and hunting sports, be active in community and school activities, and have a 3.0 GPA or above. Financial need is NOT considered.

Northeast Missouri Medical Society

Applicants must plan to enter medical school after college. Academics and extracurricular activities are encouraged. Financial need is Not considered.

North River Old Iron Club Scholarship

Applicants must be seniors planning to begin college no later than January of the year following graduation. Applicants will be judged on financial need, academic performance and potential.

NFIB Free Enterprise Scholarship

Applicants must demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and initiative, such as starting a business, participation in DECA or other business initiative.

Oakwood Elementary School Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating high school seniors that are Oakwood graduates, must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and show some financial need.

Ralls County Mutual Insurance Company Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors who plans to continue their education in an accredited college or university in Missouri.

Richards Music Appreciation Scholarship

Applicants must have been involved in music programs during high school.

Mary Ann St. Clair Memorial HHS Booster Club Scholarship

Applicants must be seniors that are going to a 2 or 4 year college or university, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, played at least one sport in high school each year, must have taken psychology or been a Natural Helper or Transformer for at least one year, and parents must be members of the Hannibal High School Booster Club.

St. John’s Lutheran School Scholarship

Applicants must be graduates of St. John’s Lutheran School.

Jacque Schnelle Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be seniors, have a 3.0 GPA or higher, and show qualities of leadership and citizenship. Preference will be given to applicants with an interest in French, education, or psychology. Financial need is NOT considered.

Shelter Insurance Foundation Scholarship

Scholastic achievement, educational goals, citizenship, moral character and participation and leadership in school and community activities will be considered.

A.D. Stowell Elementary School Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating seniors from HHS that completed both their junior and senior years at HHS. Applicants must be graduates of Stowell Elementary School, and must have an academic record of "B" or better. Financial need is considered.

Superintendent's Scholarship

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, good citizenship, and complete an essay discussing the importance of school and community involvement. Financial need is not considered.

The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum’s Tom and Becky Program Scholarship

Applicants must have been a Tom or Becky Top 5 Ambassador and a graduating senior, must reside in Hannibal or the Hannibal Public School District. Applicants will be judged on achievements, academics and an essay. Consideration will be given to participation and leadership in school and work activities.

Jessica Tucker Memorial Scholarship

Two scholarships will be awarded: One to a band student and one to a soccer player.

Veterans Elementary Schools Scholarship

Applicants must be graduates of Veterans Elementary school and have attended for grades 3, 4, and 5. Applicants must be graduating seniors from HHS and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Lee J. Viorel Memorial Scholarship

Applicants will be judged on school and community activities. This will be awarded to 2 students.

Tom N. Walsh Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must exhibit one of the following criteria: long distance runner, play the drums either in high school or outside of school, have an interest in philosophy.

Hannah Elizabeth Wathen Memorial Scholarship

Two scholarships will be awarded. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.8 and plan to major in some aspect of the medical field.

Jared Whitley Memorial Scholarship

Two scholarships will be given to HHS students. One for a golf enthusiast and one for a student interested in visual arts.

Bob Willett Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college/university or a trade school. Applicants will be judged on school activities, community activities, and future goals.

Williams Family Scholarship

Applicants must be seniors graduating from Hannibal High School who are planning to attend a two or four year college/university or trade school and must be residents of Ralls County, Missouri.

Women’s Club of Hannibal

Applicants must be female seniors graduating from Hannibal High School with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applicants will be judged on academics, activities & honors, and an essay.
